Before the Fall, God created work and said it was good. In fact, he gave man the primary role of tending the garden and making it flourish. Over time, the Kingdom perspective of work has been divided into a) “full-time ministry” and b) work to survive and prosper. Christ-followers have been conditioned to believe that the true spiritually significant work is done by pastors, missionaries, etc., and that the rest of us work to get by so that we can dedicate our spare time to Christian endeavors. This topic illuminates the Kingdom view of work and will show how work of all kinds positions us to join God’s mission to renew all things.
